Privacy Policy

Effective September 13, 2026

Microtonal Interval Eartrainer is designed to work privately on your device. The developer does not collect, receive, sell, or share your personal data, microphone audio, practice history, or device identifiers. The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics. On Apple platforms, optional Game Center features are provided by Apple as described below.

Game Center achievements and challenges

If you sign in to Game Center, the app reports completed achievement identifiers to Apple and reads your completed achievements so they can be recognized across your devices. On supported Apple systems, you can also ask Apple's Game Center interface to create a standardized score challenge. For a challenge, Game Center receives the activity identifier and final integer score and manages recipient selection, invitations, notifications, and results. The app does not request, receive, or retain your Game Center friend list, contacts, or selected recipients.

Until you finish or abandon a challenge, the app keeps that challenge's opaque activity identifier, shuffled target order, current question, and running score in local storage so an interrupted round can resume without rerolling. Recovery records are limited to eight and are removed after completion, abandonment, an expired Game Center activity, or no later than 30 days after creation. They are not sent to the developer.

The app does not send Apple your sung audio, individual cents measurements, qualifying ratios, chord or scale names, incomplete streaks, or general practice history. The developer does not operate a server for these features or receive your Game Center player identifier or challenge recipients. Apple's Game Center and privacy terms govern the information processed by Apple.

Microphone

Hum, Spectrum, and the microphone test use microphone samples only to estimate pitch on your device. Samples are processed transiently while you use those features. They are not recorded, retained, uploaded, or sent to the developer or a third party.

Settings and practice statistics

Your selected settings and per-interval practice counts are stored only in local app or browser storage on your device, together with any unfinished challenge recovery record described above. The app does not sync or transmit this local state. You can remove it by uninstalling the app, or, for the web version, by clearing the site's stored data in your browser.

Sharing progress

If you choose Share progress, the app creates an accomplishment image and caption locally from your practice statistics. A temporary image may be written to the app cache so your device can open its system share sheet. The image is not sent unless you select a destination. Copy caption places the statistics-derived caption on your system clipboard, where its availability is controlled by your device. The developer does not receive the image, caption, destination, clipboard contents, or share activity; a destination you choose applies its own privacy policy.

Your choices

Microphone permission is optional. Identify mode works without it. You can deny or revoke microphone access at any time in your device's app settings or your browser's site-permission settings. Game Center is optional; local training and local achievement progress continue if you cancel sign-in or sign out through your Apple device settings. The app creates a Game Center challenge only after you tap Challenge Friends and complete Apple's recipient and confirmation flow.
